Meet The Dean

Dr. Hamdy Mohamed Abdel-Rahman

Dr. Hamdy Mohamed Abdel-Rahman is a seasoned academic and researcher in the field of pharmaceutical sciences, currently serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Badr University in Assiut (BUA), Egypt. With over 30 years of academic experience, Dr. Abdel-Rahman has made significant contributions to medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical education.

Dr. Abdel-Rahman holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a specialization in Medicinal Chemistry from Assiut University, Egypt, in collaboration with Kyoto Pharmaceutical University, Japan (1999). He also earned his M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Sciences (1995) and B.Sc. in Pharmacy (1989), both from Assiut University.

Throughout his career, Dr. Abdel-Rahman has held leadership roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Nahda University, Beni Suef (2018-2022), and Vice-Dean at the same institution (2016-2018). He also served as a research fellow at the Institute of Cancer Therapeutics at the University of Bradford, UK, and as a post-doctoral research fellow at Kyoto Pharmaceutical University, Japan.

Dr. Abdel-Rahman has published over 80 international research papers in reputable journals, covering various aspects of medicinal chemistry, including cancer therapeutics and drug design. His research has significantly impacted the development of new treatments and pharmaceuticals.

In addition to his research, Dr. Abdel-Rahman has supervised and examined numerous M.Sc. and Ph.D. theses across Egypt, contributing to the development of future pharmaceutical scientists. He is also an experienced educator, having taught at several universities in Egypt and the UK, including Assiut University, Al-Azhar University, Nahda University, and the University of Bradford.

Dr. Abdel-Rahman’s dedication to both research and education has established him as a leading figure in pharmaceutical sciences in Egypt, and his work continues to influence the field globally.

School premises

An IT lab with 25 PCs, 8 printers, 1 photocopier and 2 scanners.

The classrooms are well equipped with comfort seats, a smart board, a data show device, a display screen, a microphone, headphones, Wi-Fi, and central air conditioning.

The library at the school of law connected with the central library, based on Campus, includes a large number of innovative law books and publications set out in a relaxing environment, conducive to studying. There are comfortable seating areas, group study areas, a silent study area and private study rooms.

There are central halls and stands at the university that can be used when necessary, and they are all equipped for cultural, artistic and sports activities

The university offers a learning management system (LMS) for enhancing learning needs in all areas, assignment, examinations, and student registration attendance.

The university offers health care facilities through well-equipped health care clinics (general clinics, dental care clinics and physiotherapy clinic. There is a diverse food court offering cold and hot snacks as a small area offering a variety of groceries and cold snacks. In addition, there is a copy center, a bank, and a flower shop.

The School is fully equipped with a variety of specialized labs according to the faculty needs in each field of study. All the labs contain data show and computer connected to the internet via a wireless network to ensure an interactive learning experience, as well as laboratory preparation rooms containing the chemicals and all the necessary glassware, fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
