Our vision for the School of Applied Health Science at BUA is to be the leader at the national and regional level in providing educational and research programs of high quality in the fields of applied health sciences. Moreover, we strive to meet the needs of the community in the fields of applied health science technology by providing distinguished educational programs to graduate technologist capable of helping health care providers to improve the quality of the health system.

The School of Applied Health Science is providing several educational programs in allied health sciences and disciplines including Health Administration and Informatics Technology, Technology of Critical Case Care, Optics Technology, Radiology and Medical Imaging Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Dental Laboratory Technology.

Meet The Dean

Dr. Azza Mahmoud Ezz El-Din

Dr. Azza Mahmoud Ezz El-Din, professor of clinical pathology at the Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University, Assiut, Egypt She graduated in 1986 and completed her residency in the Clinical Pathology Department in 1990. She occupied the post of assistant lecturer in clinical pathology at Assiut University from 1990 until 2000. She occupied the post of lecturer in the Clinical Pathology Department at the Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University, from 2000–2005. She became an assistant professor in 2005 and a professor in 2010. She occupied several managerial positions, including director of the Diagnostic Molecular Virology Laboratory, director of the Flow Cytometry Immunology Laboratory, member of the Research Excellence Committee, School of Medicine, Assiut University, Assiut, Egypt, member of the consolidated procurement committee, Sharm Elshik 2018, and head of the clinical pathology department at Assiut University from September 2013–2023.

FACILITIES

GENERAL

The Faculty of Medicine comprises 5 floors, each equipped with central air conditioning to ensure a comfortable environment for students and staff.

Lecture Halls

The building includes classrooms, group discussion rooms, laboratories, and a Simulation Skills Center, all equipped with comfortable seating, whiteboards, and Wi-Fi.

There are two designated gathering areas for students and staff, each providing a comfortable and social environment.

Examination center

The building has a dedicated examination center, ensuring a well-organized and conducive space for conducting exams.

library

The library contains a wide range of up-to-date books and publications, providing a relaxing and conducive environment for studying.

LMS

The university offers an LMS that facilitates communication between students and faculty, allowing assignment submission, online quizzes, and attendance tracking.

Healthcare

The university‘s healthcare facilities include general clinics, dental care clinics, and physiotherapy clinics, each equipped with advanced medical equipment.

Food court

The food court features groceries, restaurants, and coffee shops, alongside a central copy center, a bank branch, ATMs, and a flower shop.

STUDY PLAN

The study plan is divided into the following:

  1. Mandatory University requirements: all university students are to cover (2 credit hours).
  2. Elective University requirements: all University students are obliged to cover, (2 credit hours).
  3. Mandatory Faculty requirements: students are required to cover (125 credit hours).
  4. Elective faculty requirements: students must select from among a list of elective courses (3 credit hours).

The four-year degree program is designed to produce a graduate with innovative, creative and analytical skills. They are expected to perform as key persons in order to uplift their respective fields of Technology of Medical Laboratory, Radiography & Radiotherapy, Critical Case Technology and Dental Laboratory Technology.

The graduates will:

· Have knowledge, skills and attitudes to perform tasks assigned in their respective disciplines.

· Be able to work as an independent team member by ensuring safety, managing the time and resources within an interdisciplinary health care team.

· Be an allied health professional who respect other professionals.

· Have an ability to communicate effectively with other professionals in their work environment.

· Be able to develop managerial skills to provide an outstanding leadership.

· Have a capability to train future undergraduates in the respective fields.

· Be able to examine and understand the extensiveness of issues surrounding the social, environmental, regulatory and ethical concerns associated with the area.

· Be able to conduct basic and advanced research in respective fields.

· Be capable of applying their knowledge and skills to post graduate studies.

· Expect them to engage in continuous professional development and reaching higher levels in specialty.
